Obituary for David Anthony Douglas

David Anthony Douglas
Vondel Smith Mortuary South Lakes Chapel

David, 58, departed this earthly life on April 12th, 2016. The son of Lloyd and Melba Douglas, David was born Aug 7th, 1957 in Bristow, OK. After graduating from Bristow High School in 1975, David attended Okla. State Univ. David was a self-made man: intelligent, witty, and driven. At the age of 19, he began working in the trucking industry. With his first child on the way, David trained as a diesel mechanic for Peterbilt Trucks. Determined and motivated, he worked his way up in the industry, which led to the acceptance of a management position at MHC Kenworth in 1991. David took great pride in his accomplishments and cared deeply for all of his colleagues – many whom have become true friends. David was well respected by all and valued not only for his expertise but for the personal connections he made with everyone he encountered. David was an avid outdoorsman and craftsman. He admired details and thoroughly took pleasure in working with his hands; an artist in his own right. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. He loved the ocean and lake and enjoyed many outdoor and sporting activities. But more than anything, David loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family & friends. Time spent with Shellie, at the lake or just sitting together on the sofa, were his most precious moments. He was immensely proud of his children, and found great joy in watching his grandchildren grow. He will be deeply missed by all. Preceded in death by his father, Lloyd R. Douglas and daughter, Amber Lynn. He leaves behind his loving wife and partner of 12 years, Shellie Dawn Douglas; daughter, Brandi Douglas-Clark; sons: Mark and Sean Douglas; step-son, Chase Winkel; grandchildren: William Clark, Samuel Clark, Evelyn Clark, Kaio Douglas and Chloe Grider; and numerous other loving family and friends.
