Obituary for Dolorese Marie Ketch (Atherton)

Dolorese Marie Ketch (Atherton)
Dolorese Marie “Jackie” Ketch joined Heaven’s angels on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the age of 100. The daughter of Alice Lucille (Slane) and Charles Edward Atherton, Dolorese was born August 14, 1915 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After graduating from Capitol Hill High School, she married her sweetheart, Maurice E. Ketch. While he was away serving his country during World War II, Dolorese moved the family to California, where she went to work as a bookkeeper for Greater Central Market in order to help support her family. Family was always her number one priority. She was a very strong, independent, loving and caring woman who dedicated her life to caring and raising her family. With a very competitive spirit, Dolorese always enjoyed playing games, especially canasta and she hated losing at anything. She also enjoyed sewing, pottery, making hats and was known for her wonderful cooking. An animal enthusiast at heart, she especially enjoyed horses. Following the death of her husband on July 11, 1983, Dolorese continued living their dream by maintaining their 80 acre family farm in Meeker and raising Thoroughbred horses. She was a longtime and faithful member of South Lee United Methodist Church and also previously enjoyed friends and worshipping at First Methodist Church of OKC. Dolorese left a legacy of honoring God, loving family, and serving others. She will be deeply missed.
