James McCarty Robertson

James McCarty Robertson died September 15, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 85. He was born January 11, 1931, to Reuben Boyd and Jewel McCarty Robertson on a farm south of Jenks, Oklahoma. He married Jo Ann Davis March 7, 1952, and to this union was born three children, Jim, Jr; Jane Ann; and Joyce Ann. Jim was a graduate of high school at Morris, Oklahoma, Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Jim was pastor and interim pastor of several Baptist churches in Oklahoma and administrator of several hospitals in Baptist health care systems in Oklahoma. He retired in 1992. Jim was a member of Putnam City Baptist church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Jim was always a sports enthusiast. He liked to play golf, fish for trout, and watch football and basketball. After retirement he became interested in family research and found many cousins throughout the United States and provided a Robertson family web page on the internet along with his high school alumni directory. Jim and Jo Ann lived at Cordell, Oklahoma 26 years before moving to Oklahoma City. They enjoyed their motor home club trips and were nine year volunteer campground hosts in the summers at the Coyote Creek State Park at Guadalupita, New Mexico and Sugarite Canyon State Park at Raton, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann of 64 years; a son Jim and wife Ricki of Yukon, OK; two daughters, Jane Ann Haynes and husband John of Oklahoma City, OK and Joyce Ann Robertson of Frisco, TX; three grandsons, Chris and wife Kelli and their two daughters Molly Grace and Macy Kate; Craig and Ryan; a brother Boyd of Austin, TX; two sisters LaDeane Dowdle Moore of Madison, MS, and Maralyn Stewart of Baton Rouge, LA; also many cousins, other relatives and friends. Family and friends visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Friday, September 16, 2016 at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, OKC, OK. Graveside service will be conducted by Reverend RB Mathis at Lawnview Cemetery at Cordell, OK at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 17, 2016. I know my loving family might be tempted to flower this up a little but this is me and this is what I want and approve as my obituary. Any variance by anyone will be disinherited.
