Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 4201 S. McKinley Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73109 on September 21 at 10 AM.
On the evening of September 15th, Lt. Col. George M. Bell USAF, Retired (Grampy), 85, entered peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father with his adoring wife and beautiful daughter at his side. George is survived by Bobbie, his wife of 59 years, his sons Gregory, Stephen, and George II, as well as his daughter, Mary, his brother, Haviland Bell and his sister, Phyllis Newburg. He was preceded in death by his sister Ginny McGregor and his son, Michael.
George was born in Peekskill, NY on March 5, 1931 to Haviland and Susan Bell. From 1950 until 1971, he served his country faithfully in the Air Force, which included tours in Vietnam and Korea. For the following 45 years of his life, he worked tirelessly in the insurance and investment business. George has been a resident of Oklahoma City since 1987.
George met his bride of 59 years on a blind date in June 1956. They were married on May 4, 1957 in Houston, TX. George’s love for Bobbie was undeniable, but closely followed by his love for the Yankees, Redskins, and the OU Sooners. “Grampy” was proud of his family, especially his 13 grandchildren, and prided himself in attending sport and school activities. He is most remembered for his joy of life and love of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. James the Greater or your favorite charity.
