Obituary for Zackery Taylor McWilliams

Zackery Taylor McWilliams
Vondel Smith Mortuary at South Lakes

Memorial Service: 1:00 PM Tuesday March 6, 2017

Zackery Taylor McWilliams departed this life on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 20. The son of Michael Dean and Tiffany Lee (Palmer) McWilliams, Za was born on April 30, 1996 in Plano, Texas. He graduated from Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas in 2014. In his spare time, Zackery enjoyed playing basketball, football, video games and loved driving and listening to music. Zack was a Christian and was baptized in November of 2008. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Flower Mound, Texas. He grew up in Flower Mound, Texas and recently moved with his parents to Monument, Colorado. He was a loving young man. He laughed all the time and made everyone around him laugh. He had a smile that would brighten up a room. Zack was a good looking young man who loved sports of all kinds. He loved to play football and basketball. His brother Kyle said they always tried to “outdo” each other in sports knowledge and Kyle said “I am the winner”. Zackery wanted to be a sports analyst someday. It wasn’t unusual for Zack and his cousin Ryan to be cooking and watching movies until the wee hours of the morning. He thought he might be a chef, too. His Aunt Monica said that he gave the best hugs ever! She said that when he put his arms around you, you knew and felt how much he loved you. Zack was a mama’s boy. If he ever wanted anything, he would always go ask his mom and she usually said yes. Zack was always very respectful to others. His Gram said Zack was a perfect gentleman. He made it a point to answer people with a “yes sir” and a “yes ma’am”, or a “no sir “and a “no ma’am”. His cousin Megan said before she was old enough to drive Zack noticed she was very worried about what to wear for a swim party with friends. He immediately said “I’ll take you, no questions asked”. He waited for her for over an hour while she picked the perfect swimsuit, which Megan said “is no easy task!!” To top it off, after all the time he had waited patiently for her he then asked her if he could buy her an “Icee”!!! So sweet, …..he just wanted her to be happy. Katelyn said Zack told her that he always looked up to her and that he was always proud of being her “big brother”. Zackery always enjoyed going to visit his Granny and Eddie to hang out in the country, play board games, cards and bake cookies. He was always particular about how he dressed and made sure to look “swag”!! The beautiful hair he had always had to be just perfect, clothes always matching and the shoes had to be just right. His love for fashion was a love he shared with his mother. When it came to sports, he had to dress the part. It didn’t matter if he was on the field or on the sidelines, he was going to look sharp. Zack loved to go to garage sales and estate sales with Gram. He spent a great part of one Spring with his Pa and Uncle Ronnie working and learning how to fix and restore cars. Zackery’s Dad, Mike, said he enjoyed the time he and his son spent together going to and from Stillwater to OSU football games. They talked non-stop about OSU sports and stats of the players. Zack’s cousin Ryan said that he had many good memories of Zack at Lake Texoma. He said that they used to ride the tube behind the boat with Kyle in the middle and each of them at his side. Uncle Ronnie, would do his best to throw them off and into the water. Ryan said they had the best time holding on for dear life and shouting quotes from their favorite movies. His favorite being from Talladega Nights……”I’ve missed you mama speed. Ricky Bobby’s Back!!” Ryan said that the family trip to California was another great memory. He and Zack watched the movie “Semi-Pro” every single night they were there. They memorized the song “Love Me Sexy” from the movie. Will Ferrell movies were a big part of their good times together and Ryan will always think of Zack when he watches those movies. His cousin Cierra said that she most cherishes dancing and also tubing at the lake with him. Zack had a great love for animals especially dogs. He would always want to bring home or help any stray animals. He brought a sweet dog home and named her Presley and his dad was not too happy about it but now we couldn’t imagine life without her. We have so many fond memories of Zack that we will treasure forever and although there will always be a void in our hearts, we know that he is at peace with God.
