Winston “Gene” Smith AKA coach, 12-19-32~3-29-17. 84 years ago Gene was born and raised in Madill, OK where he was an outstanding athlete and went on to play college football. Gene was a successful high school coach for many years, earning many awards including coaching the Texas-Oklahoma Oil Bowl in 1978. During his second career as benefits provider in many Oklahoma schools he made million dollar roundtable the first year and continued to work full time until age 76 and only recently slowed down to write and draw. Gene was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy, mother of Mike and Ben Smith. When Judy and Gene married he welcomed another son, Steve Cutsinger and a daughter, Nancy Speckman (deceased). Their family has now grown to Mike’s wife Shari, and Steve’s wife Rebecca, love and adored 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with more to come. To describe Gene in a few words would be “He was truly a good man.”
