Weldon Edward  Davis
Weldon Edward Davis, 98, went to be with his savior on April 22, 2017 in Oklahoma City. He was born August 13, 1918 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Vinnie Mae and John Edward Davis.
He married the love of his life, Mary Agnes Rice, on October 8, l938.
Mr. Davis is a Veteran of World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal while serving as a paratrooper. He was also a member of General Eisenhower’s honor guard.
Weldon worked for the Oklahoma City Police Department, retiring as Assistant Chief of Police in 1972. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and served as its Charter President. Weldon also worked for the A.B.L.E. Commission and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.
Survivors include his daughter, Becky Smith and her husband Randy of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Kelly Walker of Dallas, Texas, Jennifer Stricklin and her husband Toney of Oklahoma City, Casey Walker and his wife Alicia of Oklahoma City; four great-grandchildren, Shelby Walker of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Lauren Baldwin of Charleston, South Carolina, Tyler Walker of Oklahoma City, and Macy Walker of Oklahoma City; step-children, Dan Smith and his wife Vicki of Dallas, Texas, Michael Smith and his wife Rebecca of Valencia, California, Jan Schafer and her husband Kris of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Galen Smith of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nephews, Bill White of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Franklin White and his wife Judi of Houston, Texas, Curt White and his wife Betty of Houston, Texas; niece, Judy Johnson of Houston, Texas and dear friends, Gary and Helen Walker of Grove, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Agnes Davis; the second love of his life, Virginia Davis; Mildred Davis; parents, John Edward and Vinnie Mae; sisters, Juanita, Alice, Sara, Jean and Ruth.
Viewing with family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26 at Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary at 13125 N. MacArthur, Oklahoma City. Funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27. Internment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at 8701 Northwest Expressway.
