Mary Bernadine Gatton lost her battle with cancer Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the age of 84. Mary would often enjoy telling folks she was born in Freedom, Oklahoma on the 4th of July in 1931 to her parents, Harry Lee and Alma Chloe (Sunderland) Mowbray. After graduating from Medford High School, she married Don Gatton. She was a member of Draper Park Christian Church and will be fondly remembered for her strong faith in the Lord, her generosity, her captivating and energetic personality, her contagious smile and laughter. She will be deeply missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her:
Parents;
Husbands: Don Gatton, Al Gardener;
Special friend, Al Johnson;
Brother, Lee Mowbray;
Son, Jimmy Don Gatton;
Son-in-law, Johnny Jackson.

Mary leaves cherished memories with her loving:
Daughters: Donna Kauk and Belinda “B.J.” Jackson, both of Oklahoma City;
Sister, Jolene Dorsett Niles;
Granddaughter, Renee Love and her husband, Chris;
Grandson, Christopher Gatton and his wife, Jenny;
Grandson, Albert Gatton and his wife, Megan;
Grandson, Mike Jackson;
Grandson, Randy Jackson;
9 Great Grandchildren;
Many other loving family and friends.

Life Story for Mary Bernadine Gatton (Mowbray)

This firecracker, was born on the Fourth of July in Freedom, Oklahoma. Many knew Mary as Bernadine growing up in Medford, Oklahoma where she excelled scholastically and graduated in three years at the age of 16. Mary met and married Don Gatton in 1948, and went on to raise three children , Donna, Belinda, and Jimmy as children of God in the Christian Church.
Mary eventually went on to marry Al Gardener, where they resided and retired in Southern California. As part of their retired life, they owned and operated two avocado ranches. Mary both loved and cherished her time spent raising avocadoes. She found tranquility and fulfillment of her farming roots in Oklahoma. .
Mary later transitioned back to Oklahoma City, so that she could be near to both of her daughters and granddaughter. A talented seamstress, she loved both sewing and crafting. Mary was truly one of a kind. Her zest for life and uncanny ability to charm everyone she met truly made her unforgettable to all whose lives she touched.
Mary passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord, on November 4th, 2015 after a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
