Funeral service will be held at Vondel L. Smith Mortuary. 6934 South Western Ave. on Friday, Jan. 20th at 10:00 a.m.

Berta Rose Chapman of Oklahoma City passed away Jan. 16, 2017 at the age of 85. She was born August 16, 1931 in OKC and lived most of her life in the Capitol Hill area. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at age 8, and from then on served the Lord faithfully. Berta attended Capitol Hill High School where she enjoyed art and band. After graduating in 1949, Berta went on to receive her beautician’s license, where she put her natural artistic abilities to good use as a cosmetologist. Berta eventually opened up her own beauty shop, “Berta’s Guys & Girls Hairstyling,” which flourished for over 30 years. Berta had a natural talent for song; her singing ability is remembered by all who heard her. Berta was a member of Southwest Baptist Church for 35 years, where she enjoyed singing in the choir as a top soprano. Berta was an avid seamstress and enjoyed working with ceramics. She loved to crochet, and many a newborn has been welcomed into this world by one of Berta’s baby afghans. She loved to collect “Precious Moments” figurines. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, James Chapman; her daughters, Katrinka Snider and Rozanne Lewis and husband, Dennis; her granddaughter Dr. Kristina Booth and husband, Jon; one brother, Glen “Brick” Roberts; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Loy Roberts, and brothers, Donald Weldon and David Roberts.
